Elegant Vintage 9ct Yellow Gold Ruby Paste Cocktail Ring - Size M

This ring is a true hidden gem! It features a lovely elongated oval-cut ruby paste stone, expertly claw-set into a classic 9ct yellow gold solitaire-style cocktail ring, with tapered shoulders that enhance the presence of such a large stone.

Known as ruby paste, the stone is in fact a red-coloured glass designed to resemble the intense, vibrant hue of top-quality rubies. Essentially, this ring looks the part without breaking the bank — which we all love!

Paste gemstones emerged in the 1700s as a way to create jewels for aristocrats that appeared high-value but were actually made of glass, with the technique continuing to be used for hundreds of years to mimic diamonds, sapphires, rubies, emeralds, and more.
